About this guide and how we research candidates

Volunteers research every contested race and measure directly: public filings, voting records, community group positions, and direct outreach to campaigns. We rate every entry, including when we land on No Recommendation, and we publish our reasoning for all of it.

Candidates and ballot measure committees were not given the opportunity to pay for preferential treatment and were not shown these recommendations before they were published.

City Council

District 1: Teri MerrickRecommended

Glendora City Council District 1 offers a clear contrast between incumbent Michael Allawos and challenger Teri Merrick. Allawos has served on the council since 2017 and emphasizes public safety, fiscal restraint, local control and economic development. Merrick, a longtime Glendora resident and retired professor, brings a different set of priorities centered on affordable housing, protecting parks and foothills, safer streets for pedestrians and cyclists, community-based policing, and greater public involvement in major city decisions. For voters who place particular importance on housing affordability, sustainability, mobility and participatory government, Merrick presents the stronger argument.

LA Forward recommends voting for Merrick.
